Standards compliance encompasses the work and business processes required to maintain alignment and fidelity with a given technical standard in a particular context. It can be a daunting task to implement a standard, but it will provide considerable efficiencies over the long run as it will insulate against vendor lock-in and provide durability where bespoke products can introduce brittleness in a data system.
